Abhay meaning
Abhay (अभय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Fearless, undaunted; as a noun, freedom from fear, safety
Abhay (अभय) is the Sanskrit word abhaya, made of a-, "not", and bhaya, "fear". Monier-Williams gives it as an adjective meaning unfearful, secure, fearless and undaunted, and as a noun meaning the absence or removal of fear, peace, safety and security. The dictionary also records Abhaya as a name of Śiva, and the Bhāgavata Purāṇa uses it for a son of Dharma. MW further notes abhaya as a symbol that procures security and as a hymn recited for personal safety. Name lists give Abhay as "fearless", which matches the dictionary, and Abhaya is the fuller Sanskrit form of the same word.
