Yogiraj meaning
Yogiraj (योगिराज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, यो, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Mula nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
King of yogis (yogin, 'ascetic, contemplative saint' + rāja, 'king')
Also used to mean: great ascetic, Lord Shiva
Yogiraj (योगिराज) joins Sanskrit yogin and rāja. Monier-Williams gives yogin as a follower of the Yoga system, a contemplative saint, devotee or ascetic, and also as a name of Vishnu, Shiva and Arjuna; rāja means king, chief, or the best of its kind. Together the name means "king of yogis". It is used as a title of Shiva, the great ascetic, and devotees also give it to Krishna, whom the Bhagavad Gita calls yogeśvara, "lord of yoga"; it is also an honorific for revered teachers. The compound is not itself in Monier-Williams. Name lists give it as "king of yogis" or "great ascetic", which fit its parts.
