Bhrigu meaning
Bhrigu (भृगु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Name of a Vedic seer, ancestor of the Bhrigus
Also used to mean: a sage
Bhrigu (भृगु) is the name of one of the great seers of Hindu tradition. Monier-Williams records Bhṛgu as the ancestor of the Bhṛgu family, a supposed author of Ṛg-veda hymns, one of the Prajāpatis born from Brahmā and one of the seven sages; in the plural the Bhṛgus are a mythical race said to have brought fire to men. Astrology's Bhṛgu Saṃhitā is ascribed to him, and the word also names the planet Venus. Baby-name lists give the name as "a sage". The name Bhargav means "descendant of Bhrigu".
