Manthan meaning
Manthan (मंथन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Churning; the churning out of amrita from the ocean
Also used to mean: deep thought
Manthan (मंथन) is Sanskrit manthana, from the verb manth, "to stir, to churn". Monier-Williams gives the churning of milk into butter, the churning out of amrita, and the kindling of fire by rubbing sticks together. The great example is the samudra manthan, the churning of the ocean of milk by gods and demons, which brought up the nectar of immortality. In modern Hindi manthan is also used figuratively for deep reflection or debate, as in vichar-manthan, and name lists give "churning" or "deep thought". The name is used in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
