Devkinandan (देवकीनंदन) is the Sanskrit devakī-nandana, "the son of Devakī". Monier-Williams records it as a name of Kṛṣṇa, whose mother Devakī gave birth to him in Kamsa's prison in Mathura. Nandana means "one who gladdens" and so "a son", the child who brings joy, which is why the name is also read as "joy of Devaki". Indian name lists give the same meaning, "son of Devaki, Lord Krishna". It is a North Indian name, borne by the Hindi novelist Devaki Nandan Khatri, whose Chandrakanta was one of the first great Hindi best-sellers.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Krishna.
