Sankarshan meaning
Sankarshan (संकर्षण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Drawing out, drawing together, ploughing; a name of Balarāma
Also used to mean: Balarama
Sankarshan (संकर्षण) is Sanskrit saṃkarṣaṇa, from the verb saṃ-kṛṣ, "to draw together". Monier-Williams gives it as drawing out, drawing together and ploughing, and as a name of Balarāma, Kṛṣṇa's elder brother, who carries a plough. In the Bhāgavata Purāṇa the name is explained by Balarāma being drawn from Devakī's womb into Rohiṇī's before birth. Name lists give "Balarama", matching the dictionary. It is used in Maharashtra and Karnataka, also written Sankarshana.
