Vivek meaning
Vivek (विवेक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Discernment, discrimination; true knowledge, right judgement
Also used to mean: wisdom, conscience
Vivek (विवेक) comes from Sanskrit viveka, formed from vi- and the verb vic, "to sift or separate". Monier-Williams gives its senses as discrimination and distinction, careful consideration, and true knowledge, discretion or right judgement, meaning the ability to see things as they really are. In Vedānta philosophy viveka has a special sense: the power to separate the unseen spirit from the visible world, or truth from illusion. Name lists usually render Vivek as "wisdom" or "conscience", which follow from the sense of right judgement. The monk Swami Vivekananda took a name built on the same word, viveka with ānanda, "bliss". In Bengali and Nepali the name is often Bibek.
