Jagannath meaning
Jagannath (जगन्नाथ) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of the world; a name of Viṣṇu or Kṛṣṇa
Also used to mean: lord of the universe
Jagannath (जगन्नाथ) joins Sanskrit jagat, "the world", and nātha, "lord, protector", so the name means lord of the world. Monier-Williams records jagannātha as a title of Viṣṇu or Kṛṣṇa in the Mahābhārata and of Rāma as Viṣṇu's incarnation, and as the name of the famous image of Viṣṇu and its shrine at Puri in Odisha, the temple of the Rath Yatra. The 17th-century poet and critic Jagannātha, author of the Rasagaṅgādhara, also bore it. Name lists give "lord of the universe", which matches the dictionary.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
