Akshar meaning
Akshar (अक्षर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Imperishable, unalterable; a syllable or letter; the syllable om
Also used to mean: eternal
Akshar (अक्षर) is the Sanskrit akṣara, from a-, "not", and kṣara, "perishing, melting away". Monier-Williams gives it first as "imperishable" or "unalterable". Because a spoken sound was thought of as the smallest unit that cannot be divided, the same word means a syllable or letter, and above all the sacred syllable om. Monier-Williams also gives it as Brahman, final liberation, and a name of Śiva and Viṣṇu; the Bhagavad Gītā calls the supreme Brahman akṣara. Name lists give Akshar as "imperishable", "eternal" or "letter", all dictionary senses. It is used in Gujarat.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
