Akshay meaning
Akshay (अक्षय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Undecaying, imperishable
Akshay (अक्षय) is the Sanskrit a-kṣaya, "undecaying", formed from the negative a- and kṣaya, "decay, loss". Monier-Williams gives it as an adjective for anything not subject to decay. As a noun it names the twentieth year of Jupiter's sixty-year cycle and, in the Harivaṃśa, a mountain. The feminine form akṣayā is used for certain lunar days that fall on particular weekdays. Indian name lists give Akshay as "imperishable" or "indestructible", which matches the dictionary. Its best-known bearer is the actor Akshay Kumar, who adopted it as his screen name in place of his birth name, Rajiv Bhatia.
