Dnyaneshwar meaning
Dnyaneshwar (ज्ञानेश्वर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage).
Lord of knowledge
Dnyaneshwar (ज्ञानेश्वर) is the Marathi form of Sanskrit jñāneśvara, from jñāna, which Monier-Williams gives as knowing and knowledge, especially the higher knowledge of the one Spirit, and īśvara, "master, lord". The name means "lord of knowledge". It is spelled with D because Marathi speakers pronounce the letter ज्ञ as "dny", while Hindi speakers say "gy", giving Gyaneshwar. The name belongs above all to Sant Dnyaneshwar, the thirteenth-century poet-saint whose Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, the Dnyaneshwari, is a founding work of Marathi literature. It is used mainly in Maharashtra.
