Moreshwar meaning
Moreshwar (मोरेश्वर) is a Hindu boy's name of Marathi and Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, मो, it is a Simha rashi name (Purva Phalguni nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Marathi mor 'peacock' + Sanskrit īśvara 'lord': lord of the peacock
Also used to mean: lord ganesha
Moreshwar (मोरेश्वर) is the Marathi form of Mayūreśvara. Mor is the Marathi word for a peacock, which Molesworth's Marathi dictionary derives from Sanskrit mayūra, and īśvara means "lord, master, God". The name means "lord of the peacock" and refers to Ganesha as worshipped at Morgaon near Pune, the first temple of the Ashtavinayaka circuit, where legend says he rode a peacock to defeat a demon. The village itself is said to take its name from the peacocks once found there. Moreshwar is a traditional Maharashtrian name.
