Swanand (स्वानन्द) is Sanskrit svānanda, from sva, "one's own, the self", and ānanda, "joy, bliss". Monier-Williams gives it as delight in one's self, the inward joy that Vedānta prizes. On Indian name lists Swanand is usually given as a name of Lord Ganesha, and it is used mostly in Maharashtra. We could not find that sense in the Sanskrit dictionaries, so it is best read as a devotional association rather than the word's meaning. The lyricist and singer Swanand Kirkire carries the name.
