Anand meaning
Anand (आनंद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Happiness, joy, bliss
Anand (आनंद) is the Sanskrit ānanda, "happiness, joy, enjoyment". In Vedānta philosophy, Monier-Williams notes, ānanda is pure bliss, one of the three attributes of the Self or Brahman. The dictionary also lists Ānanda as a name of Śiva and of one of Gautama Buddha's chief disciples, and notes that the word is often used at the start or end of proper names, as in Vivekānanda. Indian name lists give Anand as "joy" or "happiness", which matches the dictionary. The name is used across India, and its best-known modern bearer is the chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, world champion five times between 2000 and 2012.
