Nand meaning
Nand (नन्द) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Joy, delight, happiness; Krishna's foster-father; a name of Vishnu
Nand (नन्द) is the Hindi form of Sanskrit nanda, "joy, delight, happiness", from the verb nand, "to rejoice". Monier-Williams also lists Nanda as a name of Vishnu and, most famously, as the cowherd chief of Gokul who raised Krishna as his son, which is why Krishna is called Nandlal and Nandkishore. The word also names an ancient royal dynasty of Pataliputra. Name lists give Nand as "joy" or "happiness", matching the dictionary. In South and East India the name is often written Nanda.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
