Shubhanshu meaning
Shubhanshu (शुभांशु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Auspicious ray (śubha 'bright, auspicious' + aṃśu 'a ray, sunbeam')
Shubhanshu (शुभांशु) joins Sanskrit śubha, "bright, beautiful, auspicious", with aṃśu, which Monier-Williams gives as a filament of the Soma plant and as a ray or sunbeam. Read together it means an auspicious ray of light. The compound itself is not in the dictionary, and name lists rarely explain it, sometimes confusing it with Shubhansh, "a portion of the auspicious", which ends in aṃśa, "portion", instead. A well-known bearer is Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who in 2025 became the first Indian to visit the International Space Station.
