Jaishankar meaning
Jaishankar (जयशंकर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Victory to Śiva (jaya, 'victory' + Śaṃkara, a name of Śiva)
Also used to mean: victory of Shiva
Jaishankar (जयशंकर) joins jai, the Hindi form of Sanskrit jaya, "victory, triumph", with Śaṃkara, a name of Śiva. Monier-Williams gives śaṃkara as an adjective, causing prosperity, auspicious or beneficent, and then as a name of Rudra or Śiva and of many authors, above all the philosopher Śaṅkarācārya. Read together the name is "victory to Shiva" or "victory of Shankar", the meaning name lists give. Jayashankar is the usual South Indian spelling. The Hindi poet Jaishankar Prasad, author of the epic poem Kamayani, made the name famous in literature.
