Vikram meaning
Vikram (विक्रम) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Valour, courage, heroism; a stride, step
Vikram (विक्रम) is the Sanskrit vikrama, from the verb vi-kram, "to stride". Monier-Williams gives its first sense as a step, stride or pace, from the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa, then gait and manner of going. The sense that became central is valour, courage, heroism, power and strength, so a vikrama is a bold step in both meanings. The dictionary lists Vikrama as a name of Viṣṇu and identifies it with Vikramāditya, the celebrated king of Indian legend. Indian name lists give Vikram as "valour" or "brave", which matches. Modern bearers include the physicist Vikram Sarabhai, who laid the foundations of India's space programme.
