Vikas meaning
Vikas (विकास) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Blossoming, expansion, opening; growth, development
Vikas (विकास) is the Sanskrit vikāsa, and its oldest sense is a flower coming into bloom. Monier-Williams gives it as the blossoming, budding or opening of flowers, the opening of the eyes or mouth, and the opening of the heart, which brings cheerfulness or calm. From there it widens to the growth or development of anything. Indian name lists give Vikas as "development" or "progress", which follows from the dictionary's sense of growth. It is a name that carries both an image, the opening flower, and an idea, steady growth. Vikash is an alternative spelling.
