Alfiya meaning
Alfiya (الفیہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Of or relating to a thousand
Also used to mean: abundance, friend
Alfiya (الفیہ) is the feminine of Arabic alfī, from alf, "a thousand". Lane's lexicon defines alfī as relating to the number a thousand. The word is best known from the Alfiyya of Ibn Malik, a famous thirteenth-century poem of about a thousand verses on Arabic grammar. Name lists give Alfiya as "a thousand" or "abundance"; some give "friend", which belongs to the related words ulfa, "affection", and alīf, "a close companion", from the same root. The name is used by Muslim families across India, and as Alefiya among Bohras.
