Shabnam meaning
Shabnam (شبنم) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin.
Dew
Shabnam (شبنم) is the Persian word for dew. Steingass writes the headword shab-nam and explains it as "night-moisture", from shab, "night". Under the same word he also lists a very fine muslin, a pearl pendant worn as an ear-ring, and a poetic use for tears. Name lists today give the same meaning, "dew", so the popular and dictionary senses agree. The word is shared by Persian, Urdu and Hindi, which makes the name easy to say and understand across South Asia. A celebrated bearer is the actress Shabnam, born Jharna Basak in Dhaka, who starred in Pakistani films from the late 1960s to the 1980s and won many Nigar Awards for best actress.
