Shalaka meaning
Shalaka (शलाका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A small stick or rod; a slender shoot or sprout; a needle
Also used to mean: stylus, arrow
Shalaka (शलाका) is the Sanskrit śalākā, a word for any small stick or rod. Monier-Williams lists many uses: a twig, the rib of an umbrella, a peg or needle, a surgeon's probe, a ruler, a sprout or shoot, and an arrow-head; the slender stick used to apply kohl to the eyes is called an añjana-śalākā. Name lists give "stylus" or "arrow", which fit these senses, and some link the name to Pārvatī, which we could not find in the dictionary. As a given name Shalaka is used mainly in Maharashtra.
