Shabana meaning
Shabana (شبانہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin.
Of the night, nocturnal; by night, at nightfall
Shabana is the Persian word shabāna, 'of the night', from shab, 'night', and the ending -āna, 'belonging to'. Steingass defines it as nocturnal, and as an adverb, by night or at nightfall, and lists homely senses that grew from it: supper, night-clothes, a night's wages, and bread or wine left over from the night before. Its companion word shabnam, 'night moisture', means dew, and shabāna-roz is the full twenty-four-hour day. Baby-name lists give 'night' or 'of the night', which matches the dictionary. Some sites connect the name with the month of Shaʿbān, but that is a different word with a different spelling. The actress Shabana Azmi is the best-known bearer.
