Azad meaning
Azad (آزاد) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
Free, independent; liberated
Azad (آزاد) is the Persian āzād, "free". Steingass's dictionary gives it as free or independent, and also liberated, exempted, faultless or solitary; it is also the name of a kind of cypress, the āzād-sarv, and of a lily. In Urdu and Hindi āzād is the everyday word for free, and āzādī for freedom. During the independence movement it became a chosen name: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India's first Minister of Education, took it as his pen name, as did the revolutionary Chandra Shekhar Azad.
