Habib meaning
Habib (حبیب) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Loved, beloved; also a lover, a friend, a companion
Habib (حبیب) is the Arabic ḥabīb, from the root ḥ-b-b, "to love". Lane defines it as loved or beloved, liked or approved, and also, in the other direction, as a lover, a friend or a companion, so the word holds both sides of affection. The same root gives aḥabb, "more or most beloved". Name lists give Habib as "beloved" or "dear friend", which matches the dictionary. Ḥabīb Allāh, "beloved of God", is a traditional title of the Prophet Muhammad, and the word forms compound names such as Habibullah and Habibur Rahman. Notable bearers include the theatre director Habib Tanvir and the Urdu poet Habib Jalib.
