Altaf meaning
Altaf (الطاف) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Kindnesses, favours (plural of luṭf)
Also used to mean: gentleness
Altaf (الطاف) is the Arabic alṭāf, the plural of luṭf, "kindness, gentleness, grace". Steingass's dictionary, which records Arabic words in their Persian and Urdu use, gives alṭāf as benefits, favours and kindnesses. The same root, l-ṭ-f, gives al-Laṭīf, "the Subtle, the Gracious", one of the names of God. Name lists give Altaf as "kindness" or "gentleness". The best-known bearer in Indian literature is Altaf Hussain Hali, the Urdu poet and biographer of Ghalib, whose Musaddas is a landmark of Urdu verse.
