Rahmatullah meaning
Rahmatullah (رحمت اللہ) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Mercy of God (raḥma + Allāh)
Rahmatullah (رحمت اللہ) joins Arabic raḥma, "mercy", with Allāh, "God". Lane's lexicon explains raḥma as tenderness of heart together with an inclination to show favour, kindness and forgiveness. The phrase raḥmat Allāh is Quranic: "the mercy of God is near to those who do good" (7:56). Name lists give Rahmatullah as "mercy of God". In India the name is borne by Rahmatullah Kairanawi (1818–1891), the scholar from Kairana whose book Izhar ul-Haq answered Christian missionaries and who founded the Madrasa Saulatiya in Mecca.
