Pradeep meaning
Pradeep (प्रदीप) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A light, lamp, lantern
Pradeep (प्रदीप) is the Sanskrit pradīpa, "a light, a lamp, a lantern", cited by Monier-Williams from the Mahabharata and classical poetry. At the end of a compound it means "the light" in the sense of the glory or ornament of something: a kula-pradīpa is the light of a family. Because a lamp makes things clear, pradīpa also appears in the titles of commentaries, meaning an elucidation, as in the Mahābhāṣya-pradīpa on Patañjali's great grammar. Indian name lists give Pradeep as "lamp" or "light", which matches the dictionary, and it belongs with Deepak and Alok among the light names. The name is also spelled Pradip.
