Pranay meaning
Pranay (प्रणय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Affection, love, trust, friendship
Pranay (प्रणय) is the Sanskrit praṇaya, a noun from pra-√nī, "to lead forth". Its earliest senses in Monier-Williams are about leading: a leader or guide, and guidance in conduct. The sense that came to dominate is warmer: affection, trust or confidence in someone, love, attachment, friendship and favour, attested in the Mahabharata and classical poetry. The same entry adds longing, a heartfelt request and reverence, and the lexicographers even list final beatitude. The adverb praṇayāt means "affectionately" or "frankly", as between people who trust each other. Indian name lists give Pranay as "love" or "affection", which matches the dictionary.
