Sambasiva meaning
Sambasiva (सांबशिव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Telugu usage). By its first sound, सा, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Shatabhisha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Śiva attended by Ambā (Pārvatī)
Also used to mean: Lord Shiva
Sambasiva (सांबशिव) is Shiva together with his consort. Monier-Williams gives sāmba, from sa- "with" and Ambā, "the mother", as "attended by Ambā", and śiva as "auspicious, kind" and the name of the god, "the Auspicious one". The name thus honours Shiva and Parvati as a pair. It is a Telugu name, also used in the full form Sambasiva Rao, while Tamil and Malayali families use Sambasivam and Sambasivan. Name lists simply give "Lord Shiva".
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
