Vignesh meaning
Vignesh (विघ्नेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of obstacles: a name of Ganesha
Also used to mean: Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles
Vignesh (विघ्नेश) is the Sanskrit vighneśa, from vighna, "an obstacle, an impediment", and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives it as another form of vighnapati, "lord of obstacles", a name of Ganesha, and notes that vighna alone can also stand for Ganesha. Ganesha is worshipped at the start of any undertaking as the one who both places and removes obstacles, which is why name lists give Vignesh as "Lord Ganesha" or "remover of obstacles". The longer form Vigneshwar comes from vighneśvara, with the same meaning. The name is used in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, where it is spelled without the h.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Ganesha.
