Atishay meaning
Atishay (अतिशय) is a Hindu and Jain boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Pre-eminence, superiority; pre-eminent, abundant
Also used to mean: abundance, excellence, extraordinary
Atishay (अतिशय) is Sanskrit atiśaya, from the verb śī, "to lie", with ati-, "beyond", giving the idea of lying above or surpassing others. Monier-Williams gives pre-eminence, superiority in quality, quantity or number, and an advantageous result; as an adjective it means pre-eminent, superior or abundant. In Jain tradition the atiśayas are the extraordinary qualities of the Arhats, the enlightened teachers, and the name is used in Jain as well as Hindu families. Baby-name lists give it as "abundance", "excellence" or "extraordinary", matching the dictionary.
