Mani meaning
Mani (मणि) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A jewel, gem or pearl; an ornament or amulet
Mani (मणि) is Sanskrit maṇi, "a jewel, gem or pearl". Monier-Williams gives it first as a precious stone, used figuratively for the best of anything, and also as an ornament or amulet, a crystal and a magnet; in the Mahabharata it is the name of a serpent prince and of an attendant of Skanda. Name lists give "jewel" or "gem", matching the dictionary. Mani is used across India, on its own and as a short form of longer names such as Manikant or Maniraj. In Malayalam and Tamil mani also means a bell. Bearers include the film director Mani Ratnam.
