Falgun meaning
Falgun (फाल्गुन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, फा, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Purva Ashadha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The month Phalguna (February–March); a name of Arjuna
Falgun (फाल्गुन) is Sanskrit phālguna, the month in which the full moon stands in the Phalgunī asterism, falling in February and March. It is the month of Holi, which is celebrated on its full-moon day. Monier-Williams also gives Phālguna as a name of Arjuna, the Pāṇḍava archer. In the Virāṭa Parva of the Mahābhārata, Arjuna explains it himself: he was born by day under the Uttara Phalgunī stars on the slopes of the Himālaya, so people know him as Phālguna. The dictionary adds that the arjuna tree, Terminalia arjuna, shares the name. Baby-name lists give "the month Phalguna" or "Arjuna", matching the dictionary. The spelling Falgun reflects the common habit of saying the aspirated ph as f.
