Manas meaning
Manas (मानस) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, मा, it is a Simha rashi name (Magha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Mental, spiritual; the mind or heart; the sacred lake Mānasa
Also used to mean: intellect
Manas, written मानस, is Sanskrit mānasa, formed from manas, "mind". As an adjective it means mental or spiritual, belonging to the mind; as a noun Monier-Williams gives the mind, spirit, heart and soul. Mānasa is also the sacred lake on Mount Kailāsa, known today as Manasarovar. The lake sense gives the title of Tulsidas's sixteenth-century Awadhi epic, the Ramcharitmanas, "the lake of the deeds of Rama", often called simply the Manas. Indian name lists give Manas as "mind" or "intellect". Some families write the name मनस, which is the plain word manas, "mind", rather than mānasa; the meaning is close, but the first vowel and the spelling differ.
