Monojit meaning
Monojit (मनोजित) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
One who has conquered the mind (manas + jit)
Also used to mean: one who wins hearts, conqueror of the mind
Monojit (मनोजित), the Bengali spelling of Manojit, joins Sanskrit manas, "mind, thought, will", and jit, which at the end of a compound means "winning" or "conquering". Read one way it is "one who has conquered his own mind", an ideal of self-mastery; read the other way it is "one who wins the minds of others", which is how Bengali name lists give it: "one who wins hearts". Both readings fit the parts, though the compound itself is not in Monier-Williams. The name is used mainly by Bengali families, where o-spellings like Monoj and Monojit are usual.
