Jayendra meaning
Jayendra (जयेंद्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of victory (jaya + indra, 'chief'); name of a king of Kashmir
Also used to mean: victorious Indra
Jayendra (जयेंद्र) joins Sanskrit jaya, "victory", with indra, the king of the gods, whose name at the end of a compound also means the best or chief of a group, as in narendra, "chief of men". Read that way it is "lord of victory", the usual gloss on name lists; others render it "victorious Indra". Monier-Williams records Jayendra as the name of a king in the Rājataraṅgiṇī, the chronicle of Kashmir, and of a man in the Mahābhārata. Jayendra Saraswathi, the 69th Shankaracharya of Kanchi, is a well-known modern bearer.
