Jitendra meaning
Jitendra (जितेंद्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
One who has subdued the senses (taken as jitendriya); or 'conqueror of Indra'
Also used to mean: conqueror of the senses
Jitendra (जितेंद्र) is built on Sanskrit jita, "won, conquered, subdued". Name lists give two readings. The more common is "conqueror of the senses", taking the name as a short form of jitendriya, which Monier-Williams and Platts record as having the senses subdued, and also as an ascetic. The other is "conqueror of Indra", from jita and indra, the king of the gods. Jitendra itself is not a dictionary headword, so the sources cannot settle it, but the first reading matches a real Sanskrit word. The actor Jeetendra made the name famous in Hindi cinema.
