Kaviraj meaning
Kaviraj (कविराज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
King of poets; name of the author of the Rāghavapāṇḍavīya
Also used to mean: physician
Kaviraj (कविराज) is the Sanskrit kavirāja, "a king of poets", from kavi, "poet, sage", and rāja, "king". Monier-Williams also records it as the name of the poet who wrote the Rāghavapāṇḍavīya, a medieval poem that tells the Rāmāyaṇa and the Mahābhārata at the same time. In medieval India Kaviraj was an honorific given to court poets, and in Bengal kabiraj came to mean a traditional Ayurvedic physician, which is why some name lists add "doctor". It is also used as a surname.
