Kavindra meaning
Kavindra (कवीन्द्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A prince among poets
Also used to mean: king of poets, lord of poets
Kavindra (कवीन्द्र) is the Sanskrit kavīndra, "a prince of poets", made from kavi, "poet, sage", and indra, which at the end of a compound means "chief" or "best of". Name lists give "king of poets" or "lord of poets", which is the same idea. In medieval India it was also a title: the Bengali poet Kavīndra Parameśvara, who wrote a Bengali Mahābhārata, and the seventeenth-century scholar Kavīndrācārya Sarasvatī of Varanasi were both known by it. Punjabi speakers often spell it Kavinder.
