Kaushik meaning
Kaushik (कौशिक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Of Kuśika's line; a name of the sage Viśvāmitra, and of Indra
Also used to mean: descended from Kusha, sage Vishvamitra
Kaushik (कौशिक) is Sanskrit kauśika, "relating to Kuśika", a descendant of the ancient king Kuśika. Monier-Williams gives it above all as a family name of the sage Viśvāmitra, Kuśika's grandson, and also as a name of Indra, of the sun and of Śiva, and of a musical rāga. A separate word spelled the same means an owl. Name lists give "descended from Kusha" and link the name to Vishvamitra, which fits. Kaushik is also a surname and gotra, and Koushik is a Bengali and Telugu spelling.
