Nagarjun meaning
Nagarjun (नागार्जुन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ना, it is a Vrishchik rashi name (Anuradha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Name of an ancient Buddhist teacher; from nāga and arjuna
Also used to mean: bright serpent, the sage nagarjuna
Nagarjun (नागार्जुन) is the name of Nagarjuna, the ancient Buddhist philosopher whom Monier-Williams records as a teacher of Bodhisattva rank; he founded the Madhyamaka school. The name joins nāga, "serpent" or one of the serpent beings of myth, with arjuna, "white, clear, bright", so name lists often give "bright serpent". Readings such as "mountain of cities" confuse nāga with nagara, "city", and are not supported. Nagarjun was also the pen name of the Hindi and Maithili poet Vaidyanath Mishra, and Nagarjuna Akkineni is a leading Telugu actor.
