Vansh meaning
Vansh (वंश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lineage, family, race, dynasty; a bamboo cane; a flute
Also used to mean: descendant
Vansh (वंश) comes from Sanskrit vaṃśa, whose first meaning in Monier-Williams is the bamboo cane. From the jointed bamboo it came to mean the line of a pedigree or genealogy, a family, race or dynasty, especially a noble line of kings, as in Sūryavaṃśa, the solar dynasty of Rama. The same word also means a reed-pipe or flute. Name lists give Vansh as "lineage" or "descendant", which follows the dictionary's main sense. The name sits inside longer names such as Devansh and Divyansh too, though there the ending is usually aṃśa, "portion", a different word.
