Tejas meaning
Tejas (तेजस) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, ते, it is a Tula rashi name (Vishakha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Brilliance, light, fire; vital energy; majesty, glory
Tejas (तेजस) comes from Sanskrit tejas, which Monier-Williams links to the root tij, "to be sharp". Its first sense is the sharp edge of a blade or the very tip of a flame or ray, and from there it widens to glow, splendour, brilliance, light and fire. It also means the bright look of a healthy body, fiery energy and vital power and, from the Atharvaveda onward, spiritual or moral power, majesty, dignity and glory. Indian name lists give Tejas as radiance, brilliance or splendour, which matches the dictionary. In Hindi it is usually written तेजस, though the Sanskrit stem is तेजस्. The name is given to boys across India.
