Tejinder meaning
Tejinder (ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin (from Sanskrit), also used for girls.
Tej (radiance, glory) joined with inder (Indra; 'chief' in compounds)
Also used to mean: lord of radiance, glory of God
Tejinder (ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ) is a Punjabi name built like Sanskrit compounds ending in -indra. Tej, from Sanskrit tejas, is brightness, radiance and lustre in the Mahan Kosh, which also lists strength and fire; the Guru Granth Sahib uses the word for radiant splendour (for example Ang 857). Inder is Indra, king of the gods, and Monier-Williams notes that -indra at the end of a compound means "chief" or "best", as in rājendra, chief of kings. Read this way, Tejinder means "lord of radiance", the foremost in splendour. Name lists give "lord of radiance" or "glory of God". It is chiefly a boys' name in Sikh families, though girls also carry it with Kaur.
