Dayanand meaning
Dayanand (दयानंद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Joy of compassion; compassion and bliss
Also used to mean: one who finds joy in kindness, bliss of compassion
Dayanand (दयानंद) joins two Sanskrit words: dayā, which Monier-Williams gives as sympathy, compassion and pity, and ānanda, happiness and joy. The name can be read as "one whose joy is compassion" or "the bliss of kindness", and Indian name lists explain it in much the same way. The compound is not in the classical dictionaries, but names of this pattern have been given for centuries. Its best-known bearer is Swami Dayananda Saraswati, the nineteenth-century reformer who founded the Arya Samaj; Dayananda was the name he took as a monk.
