Hrishikesh meaning
Hrishikesh (हृषीकेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
'lord of the senses', a name of Viṣṇu-Kṛṣṇa
Hrishikesh (हृषीकेश) is one of the classic names of Krishna and Vishnu. It joins hṛṣīka, an organ of sense, with īśa, "lord", so it means "lord of the senses", and Monier-Williams records it as a name of Vishnu-Krishna in the Mahābhārata and the Harivaṃśa. In the Bhagavad Gita, from the first chapter on, Krishna is called Hṛṣīkeśa. The holy town of Rishikesh on the Ganga carries a form of the same name. Well-known bearers include the film director Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Krishna.
