Mithilesh meaning
Mithilesh (मिथिलेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of Mithila (mithilā + īśa), a title of King Janaka
Mithilesh (मिथिलेश) joins Mithilā and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams describes Mithila as the city said to have been founded by King Mithi, the capital of Videha in what is now the Tirhut region of Bihar and the residence of King Janaka. "Lord of Mithila" is therefore a title of Janaka, the father of Sita, and Sita herself is called Maithili. Name lists give "lord of Mithila", which follows from the parts; the compound itself is not in the dictionary. The name is used especially in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, the old Mithila country, where it is often written Mithlesh.
