Arasu meaning
Arasu (அரசு) is a Tamil boy's name.
Kingship; a king; a kingdom; that which is supreme
Also used to mean: ruler
Arasu (அரசு) is the Tamil word for kingship and for a king. The Tamil Lexicon, which traces it to Sanskrit rājan, gives the qualities of a king, a king, his kingdom, government, and that which is pre-eminent; it was also an old title of Vēḷāḷa chieftains. The Lexicon adds that aracu is a name of Tirunāvukkaracu, better known as Appar, one of the poets of the Tevaram. A separate word aracu means the sacred pipal tree. As a given name Arasu means "king", the sense name lists give, and it also ends compounds such as Anbarasu.
