Nedumaran (நெடுமாறன்) is a Tamil boy's name.
Neṭu (great) with māṟaṉ (Pandya title): a Pandya king and saint
Nedumaran (நெடுமாறன்) joins neṭu, "tall" or "great", with Māṟaṉ, a title of the Pandya kings, so it means "the great Pandya". The Tamil Lexicon records Ninra Seer Nedumaran, a Pandya king of Madurai counted among the Shaiva saints, and quotes the Tēvāram's praise of "the Nedumaran who won at Nelveli". Tradition says the child-saint Sambandar cured his hunched back and won him from Jainism to Shaivism; his queen was Mangayarkarasi. The 2020 film Soorarai Pottru gave the name to its hero, Nedumaaran.
